We have a new birthday mug!!!

March 13, 2007: For years and years, fans of Wallyware pottery have been asking for a birthday mug and now that time has come! We just unladed a dozen of these from the kiln yesterday and they are ready to be shipped out to you and your aging friends. Just go to the mug section of the webstore to order them!

Al Gore inspires Wally to go green and save the earth.

March 5, 2007: Have you noticed that the media was buzzing last week with expressions like "carbon footprints" and "carbon offsets"? This did not go unnoticed here at the Wallyware headquarters and an intensive crash course in CO2 emissions was undertaken by our research staff. The result was that our research staff now has a really cynical opinion of the science of carbon offsets. This is evidenced by the fact that for a mere $40.00 investment in a wind farm or whatever, you can "offset" all the CO2 your Subaru Outback emits in a whole year. Woo-Hoo! Saving the earth is cheap! The other result is our latest Wally cartoon, soon to be available in the webstore....

Wally throws his hat into the presidential ring!

January 21, 2008: You heard it here first: Wally is running for president in 2008! It all started when he formed his own Iraq study group and came the to the conclusion that surges, pull-outs and whatever else will all lead to disaster in Iraq. So Wally is going to take the ambitious high road to success in the war-torn middle east with a novel idea. Wally's advisors say that a time machine is a viable technological possiblilty within the next 30 to 100 years, but hey, once you got it built, that 30 to 100 years doesn't mean a thing, right? So if we elect a cartoon dog for president in 2008, the Iraq war problem could be solved the second the votes are counted. How cool is that?!!! Oh yeah... mugs, plates and bowls with this design are available in the webstore.

Can't figure out what to get for Steven Hawking?

December 12, 2006: Wally's latest adventure is perfect for that crazy genius physicist on your gift list. To see the beauty of this cartoon, you should go to the webstore and check out the photo of the mug it is on, because the "black hole" is an indentation in the clay. These are only available on mugs and we have a limited supply of them. Don't forget, just about everything in the webstore is availble right now, but after Thursday, December 14th, we will be limited to whatever stock we have on hand. In other words, place your orders NOW to insure you can get it in time for Christmas!

Say "Happy Wallydays!" with our new design for the season...

November 28, 2006: We just unloaded a kiln with lots of mugs, plates and bowls with this timely new design for the holiday season. While we suspect that the whole "left-wing plot to get rid of Christmas" is mostly a case of talk radio hype, we can't help but make a joke out of it. To launch this brand new design, we have created a limited edition dinner plate that can be found in the "specials" section of the webstore. (Honest disclaimer: everything is a limited edition when it's hand-drawn!).

It's only middle-aged wasteland...

November 14, 2006: We have noticed an odd spike in sales here at the Wallyware webstore of a classic Wally cartoon from way back when, and it must be due to the fact that the surviving members of The Who are out on tour right now. Check out the mugs, plates and bowls that commemorate the fact that Roger Daltry and Pete Townsend are reneging on their pledge, "Hope I die before I get old"!

The men seem to be really messing things up lately, so...

July 27, 2006: Big news! Wally has already decided that he will vote for Hillary Clinton in 2008, but there is one provision: she has to make Oprah Winfrey her running mate. With two of America's top "power women" running for The White House, our national life will be anything but dull. Show your support for this awesome political dream by buying a mug, plate or a bowl at the webstore!

New technology will lessen our dependence on foreign oil, Dammit!

June 24, 2006: The muse of creativity strikes again! This cartoon idea came out of the ether this morning and I was compelled to draw it. You can puchase it in the webstore right now, and it will be available for shipping when our next kiln comes out on July 10th.

Wal-Mart is taking over more than just the planet Earth...

June 23, 2006: Did you ever wonder why Wal-Mart is encouraging people to park their RVs in Wal-Mart parking lots over night? It turns out they need the inhabitants of those RVs to power their interstellar vehicles! We've got dozens of this new design in mugs, plates and bowls firing in the kiln today, and they are for sale in the webstore right now.

Give your dad a mug!

May 22, 2006: Check out our new Father's Day mug! This java delivery device is available at the webstore.

New mug design for grads and students!

May 2, 2006: Below is our latest funnymug for graduates and aspiring graduates alike. It is available in both male and female (please be sure and specify when you order). Due to the intense pre-orders from galleries on this design, we are decorating a TON of them right now and they will be available for shipping on Monday, May 8th. To purchase this mug right now, go to the webstore.

Wally takes bohemian martini chic up to a whole new level!

April 24, 2006: If you found a strange glittering powder at a UFO crash site, what would you do with it? Would you mix it up with some gin and vermouth?!!! That's exactly what Wally does in this latest "X-Files meets Bukowski" adventure. Check out how it looks on mugs, plates and bowls in the webstore.

Pop art meets geopolitics...

March 4, 2006: The kiln is firing right now with the prototypes of this wild and wacky new Wally design. Tom's assitant, John has done an amazing job recreating the art of Roy Lichtenstein on these pots. Check out a picture of one of them in the webstore!

Finally! Someone in that hunting party is going to talk and it's going to be Wally...

February 17, 2006: This week's biggest news story wouldn't be complete without a commemorative Wally cartoon! We are firing a kiln tomorrow with mugs, plates and bowls of this design which will be available for shipping on Tuesday, Feb. 21st. To purchase these pieces and more, go to the webstore.

Happy New Year! Everybody who places an order through the webstore in January receives a FREE top-quality factory reject.

January 2, 2006: The new year starts with yet another interesting incentive to entice you all to buy some pots. Here it is: everyone who places an order this month will receive a free mug, plate or bowl from our "odds 'n ends" vault in the Wallyware factory stock room! (We choose the item... trust us, it will be a good one) And as if that weren't enough of an incentive, there's more. Profits from the webstore sales this month will go towards paying for the flood damage that was incurred last month when the pipes froze and the stock room was flooded. No pots were damaged in this small-scale disaster, but it sure was a pain to clean it all up.

"Wally's Greatest Hits in Black and White" - a retrospective look at the best Wally cartoons from The Canyon Courier 1995-2004.

January 1, 2006: With nothing better to do on New Year's Eve as a dozen high school freshman partied it up in his basement, Tom scanned and uploaded the top twenty-five all-time best Wally cartoons from Wally's nine years at The Canyon Courier, the local aper in Evergreen, Colorado. Click on the cartoon below to see this fascinating piece of Wally history!

It's the end of the world as we know it!

Here's some interesting links:

"Getting Chicked" - A sports commentary by Tom Edwards - News flash! This amusing little essay will be featured in the spring 2006 edition of "Colorado Runner" magazine. Cue the Bruce Springsteen song, "Glory Days"...

The Brian Jonestown Massacre - "Why can't I stop listening to this music? When I go to put on a CD, all I want to hear is 'Tepid Peppermint Wonderland'. And as many times as I've listened to all 38 tracks on this double CD, I still don't have a clue as to the song order on this collection. Why is that?" -Tom

Chewbacca's blog - Here's a charming little blog from the hairy guy from the Star Wars movies.

"Obey The Pure Breed: propaganda for the world domination by dogs" - An excellent website that sells eastern European-style posters, etc. touting the concept that dogs rule the world. It's a wonderfully conceived and executed website, much in the wonky spirit of Wally.

"Black People Love Us Dot Com" - The name pretty much says it all.

Hollywood Dog - Wally's cooler older cousin... check him out!

The Eels - This is Tom's favorite rock band of the past few years. Start by reading the harrowing story of Mark E's rise to fame in the rock industry, then go out and buy some of their CDs... "Souljacker" and "Daisies of the Galaxy" are two of their best.

The amazing Tommy Morgan - Tom's uncle is the most highly acclaimed studio harmonica player on planet Earth! You've heard him countless times on movie soundtracks and playing with such artists as Henry Mancini ("Moon River"), The Beach Boys, and Elvis, to name just a few. Check out Tommy Morgan's website and marvel at this guy's awesome career.

Teenage Pajamas From Outer Space - Here's some great pics taken at an Aquabats concert in Denver. Tom's daughter, Robin put together this webpage to accompany a concert review she did for The Canyon Courier, the local paper in Evergreen. Holy guacamole, it's super rad!!!!!!

Found Magazine - This is a wonderful concept: a whole website with odd notes and pictures that have been unearthed and put upon the web. It's sad, funny and very captivating.

Bonsai kittens - Somebody sent me an email about this... it's horrible! Can't we do something to stop it?

Wally isn't the only crudely-drawn cartoon dog on the planet. Check out Wally's cousin Cobi, the famous Olympic mascot from Barcelona, Spain.
